From an early age, I always wanted to see and hear stories from the Moluccas where my roots are, because there wasn’t anything on tv or in the movies. I love movies !
Growing up in my teenage years I realized the cultural and ethnical connection with the Pacific, so the Moluccan story is bigger. I always wondered how life was in pre-colonial times and developed a deep love and connection with the Pacific.
There are series and movies about Vikings, Medieval times, Westerns, fantasies like The Lord Of The Rings, movies about Africa, Asia… But very little of the Pacific. So I decided to write stories strongly imbedded in the culture of Oceania.
The Shadow Age is The Story I’m working on right now and can’t wait to share the journey with you !
Keeping Pacific languages alive is of extreem cultural significance, not only the preservation of it. They will be the used and spoken languages of today(and the less used!) and The Shadow Age will be showcasing them. But also other cultural elements and aspects of the Pacific, like music, war dances(like the Haka), tools, weapons, art, clothing and food.
We Are One as a people and want to show ourselves to the world and let our presence be normalized.
